Hiya!

My name is Marc and I am a cinematographer.
Born in The Netherlands, living in Rotterdam, but working anywhere.

More and more I find myself questioning why I work as a cinematorapher. While finding answers, more questions arise. The more I learn about the things I see through the viewfinder, the more I start to wonder if an answer is what I’m looking for. Because often it’s that moment where you are in the right place, at the right time, with the right amount of patience and virtue, the shot or scene appears. Maybe not even noticed in the moment itself. But this, I think liminal zone, is where I love to be.

I was raised on the country side, but have been living in the city for almost fifteen years now. Yes! I miss being close to nature... That is why you will often find me in the mountains, to get my dose of space and fresh air.

Within filmmaking I find myself most attracted to fiction, narrative and documentary projects, where I always try to put intuition first. Besides it being a act of creating, it is just as much a social act in which prefer to do it together. So for every project where creativity can thrive and people can shine, i’m all ears.
